Stopping run-pass options in College Football 27 starts with patience, not constant pressure. Whether you are comparing roster upgrades with College Football 27 Coins or working with your current lineup, defensive discipline matters more than chasing every movement. The offense wants one defender to hesitate or commit too early; your goal is to make that decision less obvious.

Read the Formation Before Following the Ball

Begin with the receiver spacing and the running back's position. A wide receiver stationed near the sideline may threaten a quick screen, while a slot receiver can attack the space behind an approaching linebacker. These are clues, not guarantees.

Count the defenders available against the run before adjusting coverage. Moving another player outside might discourage an easy throw, but it can also leave the interior short against a handoff. Keep enough bodies near the line to handle the blocking formation.

After the snap, watch the offensive line and your assigned receiver together. Avoid treating the quarterback's initial exchange with the running back as a confirmed handoff. Taking two unnecessary steps toward the backfield can open the exact passing window the offense wants.

Protect Short Windows Without Losing Run Support

Disciplined zone coverage can help against repeated quick throws because defenders can face the quarterback while protecting nearby space. However, a zone call alone does not solve the problem. Positioning still determines whether the receiver catches the ball with room to accelerate.

When controlling a linebacker, move laterally with purpose rather than charging immediately. Stay close enough to affect a short inside route while remaining available to fit the run. If the ball is handed off, pursue through your responsibility instead of crossing behind another defender.

Against screens, prioritize leverage and secure tackling. The nearest defender should limit the receiver's path, with support arriving from inside. Trying to deliver an immediate big hit can turn a modest completion into a long gain if the first tackle fails.

Change the Picture Instead of Sending Everyone

Pressure makes sense when the offense has become predictable, but sending extra rushers can expose quick passing lanes. Use it selectively, with a clear understanding of which defender replaces the space left behind.

A different alignment may be more useful than another rusher. Against spread formations, additional defensive backs can improve access to outside receivers, provided the remaining front still has workable answers against the run.

Track what the opponent chooses after each adjustment. If wider coverage produces more handoffs, restore interior support. If tighter run defense invites quick passes, protect those windows without overreacting.

Even if you decide to buy CFB 27 Coins, approach RPO defense as a positioning problem: read the formation, preserve responsibilities, and make the offense earn its yardage.
